To gain something means to receive something of value. If you gain something, there is also something that you lose. And in losing something, you also receive something. But if this is the case, then how much do I have to lose to gain what I want? I've lost years waiting but I've never gained, I only lost. Is there a real exchange of equal values? I've asked these questions again and again. The sword is able to cut with its priced blade but the price is that in in doing so, it blunts out until it cannot cut anymore. But the sword loses more of its blade than it should because of time. As time passes, the blade will rust and the rust will eat the blade. Although sharpening the sword will restore its edge, it will also eat away the very metal of the sword. So is this really an equal exchange? Humans lose more than they gain. Humans receive growth, health and other essentials at their early years but time takes that away one by one starting with the ones they love to eventually, their lives. All the while, they receive honor, wealth, love and more. But is all of these equal to the actual value of a life that they can be used by Death as exchange for someone's life?
